Who is ACGC?
The Australian Chicken Growers Council (ACGC) is Australia’s only national peak body representing contract chicken and turkey growers. We are dedicated to supporting the long-term sustainability, viability, and success of independent growers across the country.
Our members account for more than 70% of Australia’s chicken growing production and are in every major chicken-producing state. This strong national footprint ensures growers’ voices are heard at all levels of industry and government.
ACGC advocates for fair, sustainable, and commercially viable outcomes for growers throughout the chicken meat supply chain. We work closely with state and federal government departments, regulators, processors, and farming organisations to shape policies that protect growers’ interests and strengthen the industry.
As a proud member of the National Farmers’ Federation, ACGC plays an active role in national agricultural discussions, ensuring contract meat chicken growers are represented in broader farming and policy forums. Through collaboration, evidence-based advocacy, and industry leadership, we are committed to securing a strong future for Australia’s chicken growers.
ACGC also works closely with the Australian Chicken Meat Federation (ACMF) where we are a member as well as holding two positions on the Board. The ACMF is the peak council for participants in the chicken meat industry in Australia. The ACMF represents all elements of the industry, including chicken growers and processors, at the national level.
ACGC maintains an ongoing relationship with the RSPCA. The RSPCA Certified program conducts audits of growers against the program’s standards; therefore, it is imperative that growers have direct representation and communication channels with the RSPCA.
