Industry Position Statement on Hormones in Chicken Meat |
| No hormones are fed or otherwise administered to any poultry in Australia. Hormones have not been used in the Australian poultry industry for more than 40 years. |

Biosecurity |
| Farm hygiene and biosecurity practices are implemented at both breeder and broiler farms to reduce the risk of disease agents moving on to farms from outside sources (eg wild bird populations or from other farms), the movement of disease agents between sheds on the same farm, carry over of disease agents from one batch to the next in the shed environment, and carry over of disease agents from breeding flocks to their progeny via the egg. |

Draft Chicken Meat IRA Released |
| Biosecurity Australia released the draft Import Risk Assessment for chicken meat on 28 June 2006. The draft IRA assesses importation risks and attempts to define circumstances under which importation of chicken meat may not expose Australia to an unacceptable risk. |
